View Full Version : Script: Polygon select along connecting edges between loops?

Hi Guys, I was wondering if there is a script that can select ploygons that butt up to each other only along the narrow edge of the polygons.

I would like a simple way to pick polygons that are between edgeloops that will be extruded.
There is one for edges with max5 and meshtools, it's the ring option. But it won't do polygons. Perhaps the ring script could be modified?

Could one of you script gurus come up with something like this? It would save a great deal of time while modeling in sub'd. I think a large number of people would be very grateful! Thanks!

eslect the edgering between two loops and convert the selection to poly?

I wish that did work. That would be so easy! I can't get that process to work in max5, can you?

Yup, select your edge ring, or loop, or poly, or vert, and hold the "control" key while selecting a different sub-object type.

Works like a charm.

It allows you to translate a selection from one type to another.

Good stuff.

Thanks guys!! That's a great tip! I've been doing this a while and never new this process. I'm more than a little embarrassed! Thanks again

No need to be embarassed. We had to learn it from somewhere.

Heck, I just learned that keyboard shortcut a few weeks ago.

See? Not so bad.

Glad it worked out for you, man. Best of luck.
