Welcome to the challenge! Can't wait to see your ideas for this one.
scala
09-20-2007, 01:04 PM
In fact I've got two different ideas about that .
The first one start from a sketch of a butcher I did , then for his strange behavior I've got to possiblities first one what it is selling the second one what is he doing .
The second idea would be with a dragon and kids .
Here are the sketches
Butcher (http://bp3.blogger.com/_dTY7a2raswA/Rupdr5dM8TI/AAAAAAAAAFw/FqGHN6cBQus/s1600-h/WiP-BUTCHERaw.jpg)
Dragon (http://bp0.blogger.com/_dTY7a2raswA/RuESULlR6SI/AAAAAAAAAFI/i6sP_NexUNw/s1600-h/Sketch1.jpg)
Kids (http://bp0.blogger.com/_dTY7a2raswA/RuESULlR6TI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/3zoXnRTR4zs/s1600-h/sketch2.jpg)

Given what goes around the Challenge forum (as far as I've seen), my vote is on the butcher. All three sketches are very good, but IMO he would be more original.

Really great work! Your work's 'strangeness' is clearly gonna have it from the character design and expression, and at this time that seems to be going very nice! I'm looking forward for your final image: I'm sure I'll be able to see that one within 8 days?! :bounce:
haha, really grotesque ;) the contrast by the cleaver is especially good! Hope you finish in time. Good luck!

Hi Eric ! Nice to see you in here !
Your dragon looks really silly (witch is a complement in that challenge !) but well, I think it was worth to choose the butcher guy instead : More original !
And be reassured, I can say the same for that guy : he looks too silly ! :-) I hope you will ended up at time, but I know you work fast ( which is not my case, poor me !). Good luck !

Hey Krystal I really like your last work I wish you the best . Are you gonna be at "Utopiales"?
For the dragon I guess I'm gonna make it anyway . As you said I'm working fast I did around 100 speed painting almost all abstract but it's like clouds , every day I look at them and it turns something . You can see the last ones on my Blog.

Haha, that's a great idea! Only a little bit sad for our dear Remy ;)
My opinion about the text: I think that it's better to not let the text lead the image, as you clearly suggest that that mouse is Mickey. ;) I think the view can survive without the namecard, and only a pricetag could be enough.
I'm looking forward for your further progression! :)

You nailed me with the rat! there's something so creepy about this pic, but nicely done... good style.

Thanks a lot SteevieWoo . You've got the right eye I think.
I was wondering all day long about something in that part I do change something , that in fact gonna really make it like a strange behavior .
Few lines to tell that we ( here on cgs , me and Christelle Vanessa Camprubi ) have lost a great great friend Jean-Jacques Killian left the Building I want to dedicate my illustration of Strange Behavior to our friend . The biggest mouth and biggest heart left.
Fou you JJK .

Let me Introduce you to Mr Arnoldo Geppetto.
Born in Italy long time ago .
Mr Geppetto move to north America in the meddle of the 21 st Century.
Mr Geppetto was a Butcher .
He bought a little shop and try to do his businnes.
Unfortunatly , for him , years after years The World Department of Health who few years ago get the Ultimate Power over the world (their first action has been against tobacco they put in Jail all the chairmen of the Tobaccos company and force them to destroy all the fields , more they have to pay hospital for all the people having cancer ),so that Depatment discover the intensive factory of chicken and close them , then they keep on a close investigation over meat , fish and vegetables.
Once happen what suppose to happen they ( W.D.H. ) decide to close Mr Geppetto's shop.
Pooooooor Mr Geppetto he was to used to work and look news on TV ,specially wars far from him , and his favorite wonderful new Tv reality show about Serial Killer ( you know they take 20 people in a hudge house ,but in the 20 one is a serial killer ) .
What can he do he only get is little shop his uniform and the toys that left his kid before going to the Serial Killer Video Show .
The people passing by his shop were surprised , there was something weird in there , these toys in that shop and that guy dressed like what and most of all ...that smell.
That story and that illustration is dedicated to our friend Jean Jacques KILLIAN who decided to left the building that week , I'm quite sure he will appreciate . As you can hear the thunder is already in action in Heaven .

Hi!
First of all, I like the idea! It's about passion and calling for our personal purpose... I wish the butcher had some kind of eye contact with the mouse, and maybe a little smile on his face. That would suggest his bond with meat... also, maybe a stain of blood on the jar - reference to old good butcher times. IMO it's hard to tell he was a butcher - some more pictures in the backround (like a classic piece of raw bacon) - they could substitute his thoughts and feeling. Technically it's pleasantly smoothly done! Well done!
