Hello everyone. This is the first lil sketch for the strange behavior contest. I kinda find this sketch a lil embarrassing and usually no one see's this portion of my work...;) but normally I just do some quick sketches in photoshop to put my idea from my head onto the computer....then I'll hunt for reference pictures online to see how 'real' things look. I am going for a pretty realistic end image so I want to make sure i get the shading and texturing right when I'm painting the picture. I also use zbrush to block out the major images too which is an easy way to get lighting and texture too. Once i get everything blocked out the way i like it, i start painting and painting. Hopefuly in a few weeks ill have my final image. Ill keep posting my work in stages so you can see my progress. Thanks for checkin me out and dont forget to check out my crazy picture when its all done.

I am very happy with the way my picture has come out. I was going for a photo realistic picture but it seemed to come out with my usual style of something you might see in a children's book. A blend between our real world and your imagination. The picture is open to interpretation. I had envisioned a robot bird feeding potentially abandoned baby birds.
I started out with zbrush models and laid them out in Photoshop and then painted on top of everything. The zbrush images are hardly visible now.
I would like to credit http://www.mayang.com for a few textures that I used for the bird. The hexagons on the wings, the honeycomb on the belly and the motherboard on the wing have all been used from their texture library. I normally paint on top of all textures that I use so they are also hardly visible in my final image but feel credit is definitely due.

Besides zbrush everything else in the picture was painted in Photoshop. I am happy that there are challenges like these because im sure like everyone else it gives you a chance to do something out of the regular work. Also as a painter I know my skills have grown a lot and feel like I have don’t justice to my initial though of strange behavior.
