Hi, just playing around with photoshop and a photo I took in a local park. Spent about an hour so far.

C&C welcome. Don't know whether to keep it in the present day or paint out the path and other man-made articles in the distance and turn it into a fantasy picture?

Looking good so far :)

I think you should turn it into a phantasy picture.

... great work so far... try the fantasy look ... the image should be a bit darker , replace the overexposed areas with another color, maybe a nice red sunset ... :)

Good luck !

OK - fantasy it is. Cheers guys.

I always guessed a fantasy setting would be better but I suppose I was being a bit lazy by hoping a present day look would suffice, as that is definately the easy option ;)

I've not really done any major photo compositing before but it looks like I'm gonna have to learn.

Thanks again guys.

Here's an update, all man-made items removed [I think LOL!] and the start of a new sky and some tinkering with the rest of the colours.

I've taken the 'arms' away because I'm still not sure whether I want to kee the tree 'armless' or to create the arms in 3D and intergrate them back into the picture...

Small Update

I've been working on the lighting in preperation of incorporating 3D elements into the picture - thus the white light balls in the scene that obviously won't be there much longer ;)

Also working on the long grass. Now I have long grass in the foreground the grass on the farthest bank looks too bright. I'll have to tone it down or lengthen the grass over there.

Thanks for looking.

Cool approach. I like the image, and I agree with removing the arms. The haze feel seems a bit heavy right now??? Looking good.

man, thats amazing work. I love where your going with it... I'm trying to think of what you could add to give it more of a fantasy look. I think a castle in the horizon would help the picture look more fantasy and dark

just an idea...

more tree's, huorns. They are the tree's that are sorta still living, and under the care of the Ents. They are wild and dangerous and you should only go near them with an Ent.

so lots more wild tree's but they lack faces... but have long fingery branches and such and are surrounded by a dark shrouding haze that is impentirable. And they move as quick as wind... so keep the now a day elements but have the huorns around them with this ent possibly leading them?

Hehe excellent, I like that. If you want to take it further and make it look like a standalone piece in itself that'd be cool. Right now it looks like a frame from a film.

I've been working on things that will populate the scene and act as protagonists to the tree. I've decided to have small humanoids riding upon giant beetle \ bugs \ insect things.

Here's work on the bug so far. I'm in the middle of working on the wing[s] at the moment. The overall form of the bug isn't meant to be realistic, more stylized. The riders when designed and done will sit on the 'neck' of the beasties.
