Hi All,
I created this image from the old stories of the Jinee that was enslaved in the bottle for thousands of years. well this my version, it's when the Jinee fully forms or appears to the little Kid, very soon he will know that he will be a Master,

The final render is on Modo.

Very good work. I don't have any criticism, but it would be cool if the two seagulls on the ground was about to fly away like they where a little spooked.

Anyways.... Superb work

excelent work as Always - Im Very Fan for your arabic Style work - your #1

Just 1 thing i notice it according to this pic of Art \\\

1-The 2 calm Birds on the left - it is give me a calm feel - and this scene is not as calm as this 2 birds staying without any attention to this Great master of the bottle i think it will be great to give them a feel of terror and standing to runaway

2- The background of the skys and clouds and smoke is very good - just the sea i think the material is very grainy too much

3 - the material of all scene is a pic Of art as always

Oh, Khalid!

This is beautiful! Beautiful!

I love the ears you made for the Jinee so much!

Also, you can certainly tell that the young boy is totally stunned by the Jinee even though he is facing away from us.

And the dark, hazy background along with the dark clouds really add feeling to the whole image.

Again, beautiful work!

Inarguably amazing work here. However I feel like I need to mention that the Jihnn does not appear to be eminating from the lamp. The smoke seems quite detached from his feet and, in fact, appears to be billowing in front of him rather than as part of him. Just an observation. Certainly an impressive piece none the less.

Oh!! thanks everyone.. it is always useful to here your point of views and all your great comments... thanks for spending the time here..:)

About the sculpting on Modo.. who said I didn't use Modo for the sculpting ;), Modo has two sculpting options, one it Mesh, the other is Image displacement... before I did the ZB details sculpting Modo was used for my basic Mesh shape sculpting, this figure started from a regular human body model, I then used there tools to shape him up :)

On Modo you meen-!? with the latest version.. It feels great ;) again.. I always say this .. if you want to sculpt on efficiently.. the Key is to make sure you spend good amount of time testing your UVs first, so when you use and image onto a Uved object.. you dont want the image to be distributed into big areas & tiny areas, with 3D painting softwares, unlike PSD or any 2D software, brushes on 3D aps are doing a lot of calculations in every stroke, not only the painting that is getting applied.. it thinks about the flipped Uvs the ... size of uves ... and finally how to link them up seamlessly.

the videos took about 1 to 2 hours each, then I compressed them into 4 to 7 mins,
the hard were I use, I am a cross platform user, I start on a Mac G5, then finalize the project on my Boxx PC, thats how I usually work 90% of the time.

just some of my humble thoughts and ways of work, hope that helps a bit-!!

again thanks everyone....

As always, excellent work Khalid. You never let it go until it's at a very high standard, I like that.

KHALID
09-21-2007, 12:16 PM
May I ask Khalid how you did the smoke? Thanks..

Sure you can!!.....

Simply ... just up and down with the sizes of the brushes vs pressure, but I layer a lot.. I would say that I had about 6 layers at least for that, I also go thru photo refs, and I used some images with stamping tools, PSD to me is like my arm, I started since version 2 many years ago ... so ;) very much second nature, I sometimes forget how I even started an image.. ;)
I almost never let an image or an animation go out as row rendered from a 3D ap, I've always loved to adjust final or put my final touches that makes it complete in my eyes, not to make it into reality or realistic... but to reflect an Idea that I had, or an illustration that projects my emotions into a single image ;)

Hope that helps you brother...

thanks again for all you words..

nice one! but why does the guy with the hat stand like as if he's in a bind pose? very stiff and awkward, why not a dynamic surprised pose? and I cant read where the genie is looking.

I saw this on the front page, just the little thumbnail and I thought "It's the guy who did the Al Buraq image I bet!" and I couldn't wait to see what you had come up with.

Definately does not dissapoint! Although it could use some tweaking, the points are covered by others so I won't be repetative. ;)

Definitely one of my favorite artists on the forums lately.

One thing that really caught my eyes and kinda bothers me is the position of the Biceps, they are way too high.

I agree with the ones who say the pose is not super dynamic, but this doesn't bother me that much..

other than that the piece is great! :)

I really like this picture for the most part. Great values and depth, great colors. The lower 50% of the image is fantastic. However, the pose of the Djinn is killing my total appreciation for the picture. He comes off very awkward! The movement in the arms do not seem to have any purpose and they lack any sort of naturalness. I am sure that it would be a pain in the ass to change his pose at this point, but it would really help to make this a 5* image instead of a 3*. You are a very talented artist though, and I look forward to seeing your future artwork!

KHALID

LOL

Thanks...!!!
Mm... not really a pain to do it again, I could render it with an alpha if I needed to, and you saw above with the screens, it is fully Rigged with 60 to 70 fun bones to pose, the problem is that my mind usually has a concept.. from color to pose and a full story to show.. some people love it .. some people hate it, but in my mind, I never had any intentions to make it into a reality, or even make an anatomically correct figure ...or pose it with common sense etc. , That doesn't turn me on ;) .. It's Just simply the way I saw it in my mind.. freedom is fun to me .. and I love to think this way :)

thanks Bro...

well, i am reassured i'm not alone finding the pose weird but i didn't have the chance to get a response.
Khalid, we know your capabilities so it's an attack but rather a fan disappointement, indeed it's just too bad to let such a good illustration/idea does not reach the 5 stars quality. :)
