View Full Version : Error: Could not add sound file... HELP ME

Hello all,

I'm getting an error (which is seemingly random) when I try and do a playblast. In Maya 4.5, I do a playblast, and then right at the end, I get the error: Could not add sound file. No playblast appears, and everything disappears in the viewport. I haven't been able to make it reappear. I have to relaunch Maya each time this happens.

It happened to me twice this morning, and then not for a while until just now. I have NEVER seen this type of error before.

Any ideas on what's causing it, or better yet, how to fix it?

Thanks so much!!

I dunno.. what file format are you using? Try converting to aif or wav and see if that makes a difference.

It's a 65.5MB WAV file.

Hi Floyd,
What are the properties of your audio file?
Maya seems to have problems with some sound velocities (Khz), channels and audio formats.

For lipsync animation, I always use PCM 11Khz 8bit Mono and works fine.

Regards and good luck.

I would try converting it to the most vanilla version of the file format.. basically I consider aiff 44.1 16bit to be very safe.. compressed froamts seems vunerable to problems.
