I actually like most of it, the only thing that bothers me a little is his colar bones. And maybe you should give him some big white cartoony teeth :)
I'd like to see a wireframe too.

Thanks for the input. The collar bones I am still working on. Not sure if I am going to keep them tho.

Paul..
Looking good man.. as always :) this character has a definite Dr. Zues fell to it... but i am thinkint that it may be a little to front heavy. I am not sure why, but looking at the pic, i keep waiting for him to fall forward. perhaps more of a forwad articulation to the legs would correct this.
Keep it up...

no fair, i thought you meant the jim henson muppet named gonzo. However, I like your character. He has some cool detail that makes him both interesting and unique. Keep it up! :)

Great man!
always good to see something different and original :D
Just an update of where I am. I have made the hands a bit bigger and have done a bit more detailing in the legs and body as well as added teeth and tongue. I still want to do some more detailing in the hands before moving on to the textures.

I like it :) he seems both old and young at the same timne somehow....
'm not crazy about the ears, like they need to either be differnt (more formed or removed altogether), or the shape mirrored somewhere else, like his belly button or nostrils or something.... what were you thinking about for texture?
I love it when people make non-human whimsical characters, I think it shows alot more about how they see then a perfect human form....

my favorate thing about this is the two toed feet.
Thanks for the input. I like the feet as well. They are fun to animate with.
Incase anyone is interested I used this character for a set of tutorials on advanced character rigging in Max 5.1. I cover areas like advanced arm setups for solving the twisting issues, how to use spring controllers and flex modifiers for simple dynamics and facial animation using bones and morphing. These tutorials will be released by Discreet as part of thier Advanced Training series on DVD.
As for the textues I am thinking along the lines of turtles, not the chocolate, the animal. Brown greens and yellow greens for the body and closer to browns for the shell around the head. The shell I think I an thinking of is the leather back turtle.
Any suggestions are welcome.

interesting :surprised what is it???
For the rest: Keep up the good work!
Straightmark, It's umm... a car. not sure what you are asking. Just a character that I designed and modeled. Not realy for any thing, I get very little time to do anything for myself so I have been chipping away at this guy for a while now. Some may have seen him demo'd at Sig last year.
Just an updated image with better lighting. I replaced the original that I posted so check the first post I made.

Hi! The body of this character is really good. Its more like me, but in general is all very good. How will you do to appareance texture in this model? Human skin, alien skin...
:bounce:
I mentioned texture direction in a previous post. It will something along the lines of a turtles texture.
Thanks for the kind words. My body is starting to look that way as well:(
