Here is a painting I'm working on now
Not sure if the anatomy is correct or if I ever have the time and motivation to complete it though, but I'd like to post my process this far anyway :)

well, i don't think it's an uncorrect-anatomy problem, the way you did it suggest more a stylized shape than a realistic one.
the pose is not spontaneous, i think asking someone to take a photo of you in the pose you want (or simply looking for a photo reference on google or flickr) would be of great help.
try to improve the expression of the face, give hime a state of mind, at the moment it seems totally lifeless.. if he's simply looking over the horizon, give him the look of someone that's simply looking over the horizon!
the overall look is a little flat, pull up the contrasts, both the hand and the face are very planar, use a more natural 3/4 view of them; use some more gentle varations in the colours (different pinks/browns/yellows for the skin..) make a little green and a little pink bounce respectively from the grass and the arm to the trousers.
use the sky more to give a deepness effect than to flatten the picture! put the clouds in perpective and make them disappear in the fog while they get away from the point of view.
my 2 cents.. hope this will help.
byez.
well the basic concept n all is pretty nice , soo far the progress is goos like bernoccoli ,u should look to those things , as this is an unfinished one i expect the finished one to bee bright ,
well as the anatomy, i think the basic anatomy is fine only the neck seems a lil odd compared to his overall body it seems a lil wider, maybe narrowing it would make it ok
well looook forward for this to bee finished
