Title: Homeward Bound on the Continental
Name: Len Krenzler
Country: Canada
Software: Lightwave 3D

This is a hybrid image of CG and oil paint. The train, smoke and northern lights are CG and the scenery is paint. I used LWCAD for all the piping and found it very useful indeed. Robert Landry painted the scene. I did the CG.

Hi there,
I liked the train very much, but I feel that the smoke is too much and too long as well!
but very nice work man, keep it up

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. As for the smoke, in a cold climate like this it's mostly steam and sometimes (if you look at old pictures) it gets to be so much you can hardly see the train! This is actually a bit understated compared to reality.

Aha, you know better in this case, you know I'm from Saudi Arabia and we have no snow, and I didn't see any train working in snowing area.
so it's good work

There were some requests for wireframes so here they are :)

There was also a request for how LWCAD was used. This is nice for those of us that do any industrial illustration.

1) Draw lines where you want your pipe
2) Add a radius to your corners (either all at once or individually)
3) Apply a profile (in this case a circle)

Pow, you have a pipe with proper radiused corners. Very quick!

Being a "picky" railroad fan, Id say well done.
