I wasn't the one experimenting so i dont have much information, but you may want to catch up with thorsten from the vray forums (http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=17403)

pardon the strange refrence, only 'public' way i know to forward you :)

Anyway, they were doing a fair amount of poking into the telnet access to backburner server/managers at one point recently. I'm unsure of the full findings though to help out personally.
