Hi,

Im using 3ds max 9 and I have a problem with my lighting. As you can see by the image I attached to this posting I haven't been able to set up my outside MR sun light properly.

I modeled windows with screens and I have an MR sun light fixed outside the window shinning into the room. The problem is that I don't get the shadows of the blinds on the floor. I only get a bright area on the floor that is from my MR Sun.

How do I get that shadow effect of my blinds onto the floor. I tried messing and flipping the faces on each indvidual blind, but that had no effect. I went into my obj. properties and made sure that it was rendering shadows and casting shadows and it was.
I tried everything I know and I'm kinda stuck here.
BTW I also have shadow checked so that is not the problem.

Can anyone help me with the situation??

thanks

I can't see the light from the sun at all. Do you use GI? And where are the blinds? I see only windows. :)
If you sure there is a sunlight, colorise it with red that we can see it separately.

the sun is coming from the outside into the room, but the blinds don't produce a shadow. The blinds are where the windows are. I'm not using GI right now, but at the final render I will. I just don't understand why the blinds aren't producing shadows.

Can you render only with sunlight please? What type of shadow do you use?

Maybe the sun is at the wrong angle and the blinds are blocking all light that could be coming in the room...
