It's fantastic, i want to try this baby soon, the most beautiful things imo:
1) It's shown in the Active Tool window --->> non-modality
2) It doesn't triangulate the mesh until you finish the job
YOU'RE GREAT SAMIR!!!!!! :bounce:

looks very good, very cool. as usual i have a few questions tho, hope you don't mind.
1) what happens when you click on an edge that's not on the polygon that the previous "cut" was made on? (say there's a gap of a polygon, will it cut the inbetween poly?)
2) Can you cut into the middle of a face? (i.e. like the "Add Points" tool)
3) It looks like it currently uses the mouse dragging in a direction to move the point, would it be possible instead to work out the closest point on the line to a ray from the mouse hitting a plane that the line is currently on (the other axis of the plane being defined by up in the viewport) as this would mean that you could be very precise just by moving the mosue to the point where you wanted the point rather than nudging.
4) Is it possible to move/delete the cut points once you've made them, before you "commit"?
5) Do you always have to cut continuously in one direction, for instance could you extend the cut bacwards by clicking on an edge of the first polygon? (if so what happens if you click on an edge of an already cut polygon in the middle of the chain?).
thanks for making great plugins, looking forward to yet another great addition to the modelers toolkit.

It does look altogether bitchin'! One more question, though; does it retain UV mapping?

1. Nope the plugin forces you to cut only "legal" edges.
2. No, why donīt you use the addpoint tool for that? :) Thatīs an edge cut tool.
3. Sorry, could you explain that with pictures? I didnīt really understand.
4. Not yet. Delete definetly no, that could result in an illegal cutting. move maybe. Itīs still beta so I see what I can do.
5. Again the plugin forces you to cut only legal edges. So this is not possible. But you can stop at the end. And do another cut session backward. No problem.
It was already hard work till now. Itīs already working very good. I see what I can add. Till now I cannot give any confirmation or anything, itīs too early.
@AdamT: The UV shouldnīt be affected very much for the cuts and the new polygons will be added to the ending of the polyindex. But I needs some tests. But you will use it for modeling anyway, and as texturing comes after modeling it shouldnīt be of that high priority.

But deleting backward could be possible. Means the last one, then the one before etc. Would that be of any use/help?

Like a back tracking, so I realise I took a wrong turn three polies back :) Yes that would be a nice feature. In clay each cut alothough the tool works much like yours, is recorded as a command so you can undo one cut at a time. Seeing as how this is C4D and the video of how your tool works I miagine undo would undo the entire dut. so yes the ability to backtrack would be nice.

Just an ESC for the last click :)

For me at least the UV issue is important. True, it's usually best to finish modeling before texturing, but sometimes when you texture you discover that you need some additional detail in geometry, i.e., the bump map isn't cutting it (no pun intended). In that case it would be a royal pain to have to go back and redo the mapping.

ahhh nice !! reminds me of the Max cutting tool !! just what I was looking for in C4D :)
how much will it cost ?

Does it also snap to points?

nope, maybe for the first and the last point but not continously. Well at least not for the first release.

Yes, implemented now. :) You can move "older" cut points now at any time during a cut session via a slider in the active tool dialog.

Snap to first and last is all I ask - no triangulation before teh first and after the last cut then - absolutely awesome - count me in.

can you select multiple points and move them all as a group either "relative" or "absolute"?

But you are aware that from the first point to the second edge, there will be a triangle too, ainīt you? Actually there wouldnīt be a difference except that you can choose between the left or right point for the created triangle.

Yeah, but sometimes I want my cut to start and end on a point rather than over the poly before.
It's all good - thanks.
