Hello all, first post for a while and first ever on the new Messiah Forum :buttrock: . Just one quick question, where do I find the updates page on the PMG site? I cannot seem to see it anywhere, and although my own copy of :animate is fully updated, I am setting up a machine at the moment for a colleague who is using :studio, and I have no idea where to find the updates page!

Please Help.

Oh and excellent job on setting up the new forum. Well done gentlemen, well done.

Not to worry folks, I found them by trawling through the Yahoo archive.

for anyone else interested, the updates can be found at;

http://www.projectmessiah.com/x2/rev8.htm

and

http://www.projectmessiah.com/x2/manimate33.htm

these include the latest "b" updates too.

this last update of messiah:studio advance is from october 2002.
i hope we will see a new update soon.

Geco,

I think everyone is hoping for a new update soon, but PMG can only work so fast; probably accounts for the total lack of website updating too. can't wait to see what comes of this.

As far as excitement goes, I get excited every time I fire the program up:p ,

But as to the question of John Riggs, I really have no idea; perhaps he's just mad busy on a project?

hi Freebooter,
i love messiah:studio. :)
i hope that John Riggs is still alive.
if so he should at least give an answer to the few people that want buy the only tutorials available for project:messiah and messiah:studio.
if John is busy he can tell it. ;)

This was posted on 3/17/03 on Yahoo Groups from Lyle.

We're involve in a number of other "deep" development areas for messiah, but
the API has taken center stage; and, it has been quite a learning
experience.

After having been [over] exposed to a plethora of APIs, we decided to take a
good hard look at our own. While it was good, there were a number of
elements that would cause plugins to break from version to version. Also,
the learning curve would have been a higher than we intended, the API wasn't
entirely congruent with the direction of our product line, and the
maintenance would have significantly increased our workload.

Because we will now have to service developers as well as users, that last
item is of particular importance. It could be very detrimental to our
development pace on the main program.

To address all this, it was really just a matter of deciding for whom we're
developing the API: for the person who just likes to code, or for the person
who codes only to complete a task. Since we fall into the latter category,
the decision was clear; and, although we didn't enjoy facing the reality...
it was back to the drawing board for the API.

Unfortunately, this also affected our timeline on releasing develop (not to
mention the greater program). We were hoping to get develop in the next
rev... that is, before we started reworking the API. But while develop
won't be in the next update, you will have the API.

As you can imagine, developing a good API is no small task. And while there
will be no API that clicks with *everyone*, we feel really good about what
we have accomplished. After all, we [re]designed it to *our* liking:})

So let that be a lesson to ya... always design for yourself, first;})

ps: we're still testing the API, so we'll let you know when it's ready.
pps: yes, there are improvements to other areas of the program (for
non-programmers).

A recent post from Lyle...

>

Nothing new to report just yet; just that we're working harder than ever.
When we do release the next rev, we believe that most will be quite pleased
with it;})

As always, we'll give you a shout when you can download the next Advance
rev.

ps: much thanx to all of you for being patient. Your patience will be
rewarded with the contents of the new rev.
