View Full Version : Multipass psd not working
rob rhodes 09-17-2007, 02:55 PM This has been a long running problem for me. When i select multipass rendering and specify the file name and path in the render options I just get a black image. I want to use this for object buffers - which are there in the rendering and i can flick through image, alpha and object buffers no problem it just doesn't save them - not even the image just a black file that is a few hundred K. so i just have to copy and past manually. How do i save mulitpass PSDs using Release 10? Thanks.

on the multipass page - are you selecting the passes you want?
FYI - nothing has ever changed in how multi-pass works since it was introduced
Make sure to choose the RGBA image layer. The object buffers are rendered to alpha channels so you will see them in the channels pallet in Photoshop.
I keep having a problem with multi-pass also.
Not the same problem, mine just won't save the file.
After a render, a dialog pops up that says 'unable to write file'.
All is seemingly fine with my path, I select the layers I want, it just won't write them.
It also won't write my standard render file out either.
Only way to save it is to manually save it from the picture viewer after its rendered.

Try saving it to another location.

I have some mac wierdness happen too. If you render out a QT, then select the file in the Finder it will give you the "can not write" message if you try re-render it over the old file. Just as if you try to render over a QT that is open already. Good thing there is "save picture as" Saved me more then once.

If the preview is on in the Finder it is open. Just deselect it.

I didn't realize it was the little preview window, but I knew I could deselect it. Just a minor nuisance : )
