View Full Version : Emit along spline
square487 09-17-2007, 02:44 PM Hi all,
I need to make emitter particles follow a spline. I need something like explosion but the particles should not just splat around but "flow" forward along a spline. Im not so good in TP, so any help is very apreciated.
Thanks for your time,

Have you checked the TP Presets available from the MAXON website? In R10 they also come with TP and can be found in the content browser.
They offer two different methods of guiding particles along splines.

Hi again,
I found the presets but the emitter is "dead", I attached a spline and emitter object (sphere) to it but still it wont emit. Can you please specify if i need to do some additional moves.
Thanks,
Do you want to emitt particles from a spline or do you want the particles to follow a spline after emission?
At first i understood that you want to make the particles follow a spline, the TP Spline Emitter preset you are probably currently using will not do that. It will only emitt the particles on a spline, not guide them along it.
For this use the TP Follow Spline preset is the correct choice.
Check the documentation on the presets you can download from the MAXON website along with the presets. It comes with several examples too.

If you have the MoGraph module you can make clones or TP flow along a spline fairly easily. Set the Cloner Object or Matrix Object to "Object" in the Mode dropdown menu and then drag & drop your spline into the Object box. Use the Rate function to move the clones or TP along the spline.
