View Full Version : Copying material properties ?

It's easy enough to copy the whole of one material to another material, and it's easy enough to copy a material property (i.e. diffuse maps), to another material property slot (i.e. bump).

But is it possible to copy a single material property from one object to another object ?

Example, a scene has several reflective objects , but other than all being reflective all other properties are different.
In the unlikely event that after hours of fiddeling I produce the exact type of complicated reflective parameter I want (falloffs, filters, mix's and blends), is there any easy method of copying this reflective element of the material to the reflective slot of the other materials, or do I have to create it manually step by step for each time I want to use it ?

Ta.

Sure you can.

Just drag and drop the map...

Or, perhaps you mean just the spinner data. Why not just copy the material and change the maps? Dunno. Perhaps there is a script...

I'll go have a look...

Ok...

go here:

www.scriptspot.com

check out the "materials" section...looks like there are a bunch of scripts available to do what you need.

Like this one:

MaterialControl 1.21

Dunno, have a look, and if that does'nt help, let us know.

You can instance any branch of the material tree. I do it all the time.

If I need just the spinners, like I'm animating several spinners the same way, but other properties in their map parents are different, then sometimes Dope Sheet lets me instance the spinner controllers themselves. Sometimes not though, depends on the controller.
