im a lightwaver,and it seems no matter whati do i cant get a good photorealistic textures, the modeling is good , but when i texture it , it looks so amature, yes i am an amature LOL but i want to get that real skin look or metal, i want my starships to look like they really exist... help please, thanks..

goto thegnomonworkshop and purchase some of their texturing tutorials

Go and check out Leigh's nice pdf about photorealistic texturing. That will save you a lot of grief. I believe it is made sticky here on these forums.
