take a plane or a cube and apply the fog shader to it. put it lowover the ground and boom that should do it just fine.

There is a great pic on the front of cgtalk (as of 1:00am in cinci) done in cinema with rain done in photoshop. Anyway I just read that the rain falling was done in photoshop with noise that was motion blured and thought to myself wow I never thought of that. Just thought I would mention it incase it is for a still. Also I have seen great things with the BhodiNut Praline Fog but you would have to buy a new plug. Hope that heps a little:)

Well, alright, i made a decent fog, but it just looks like it has no volume to it. With the BhodiNut Praline Fog does that creates it well? anone have a link to it :p
As with the rain, and snow, i made a decent snow animation, and i still, when i get the space or somewhere to upload it, i can upload the little animation/still.

Fog is my main problem right now, trying to create a more volume effect. Thanks for the help.:p

I also thought that BhodiNut has closed...
(and as for the rain/snow, i was not really looking into it in photoshop, becouse it will eventually *hopefully* turn into a short animation)

Ok, wel what i really achieved, i tried most of the steps, and i tried a new one. Pyrocluster. It looks halfway decent, becouse i am trying to get a "thick" volume fog. i will upload a picture soon, only downside to this is that it takes a bit to render ;(

very cool....i think its to thick/depth and should only be a ground covering...eg thinner layer otherwise excellent.
you could also go for the height version which mean its also foggy in the tree/branch area...whole scen covered but a lot thinner at the top....a kinda two layer effect.

is it for an animation sequence...cos you could also dabble in TP instead of the ole pyro....don't ask me about this though...cos i ain't got a clue...i also have no doubt someone else on here will be able to give you some better tips. thats some project though...in at the deep end...Rain....Snow...and Fog....most people pick one challenge at a time...but you got balls...so go for it...and keep us posted.

how'd you do the trees?

Here is an update on the video test of snow falling
one with background (http://www.geocities.com/wes529/backgroundsnowtest.avi)

No background (http://www.geocities.com/wes529/snowtestnothing.avi)

the two are almost the same, just rendered a bit differnt.
please tell me what you think! thanks.

***just "save as"

looks good. i know its a test and i suppose you got it in hand...but the light just stands out...and you think wheres it coming from.

how'd you do the snow then?
oh yeah and the trees?

ps. second vid can't get to work....first on is fine though...

I have tweaked the snow a little more...and it looks alright to how i would like to create it. As for now, That light in the middle of the picture that you see, is that it was just a simple omni light in the middle to just show the background a little more. Eventually it will not be there at first, but it will be a moving light, gradually gaining itself into where you see it now. *a lot of tweaking to do on that.*

As for the snow, I just created A Particle emitter, and just tweaked around it for a bit. (the second link should be working now also...it enchances just the snow, looks al ittle better)

will post an update soon...
