is there any way to change the quick keys for basic tools like moving,scaling, rotating etc

I don't like the default ones that much

oh yeah and hi I'm new but I have been visting this site for like 2 years and I just got bothered to join the forum...so hey :D

Try go to the Hotkey Editor..
Window > Settings/Preferences > Hotkey Editor.
write say "W" and click "Find". Maya will now find the hotkey that is assigned to "W". If it exist then just change it to another Key.
