By the amount of new Nuke threads poping up at vfxtalk I would say I made the right call buying nuke 3 years ago :). I still remember the time it was 3 months between threads...
It's meant to be tongue in cheek and painful to watch these videos, right? I was laughing quite loudly at the horrendous jokes the presenters kept cracking (and as they laughed to themselves).
I was cringing at the way it's all edited like some sort of important live TV news report, though.

That looks interesting . . . very interesting! I for one think it is a great idea for the UI update. Looks much more logical to someone coming in from another app and as Matt said, you can keep the old UI if you want.
tuna, I look forward to your free video industry wrapup with interviews with major companies, VFX artists and hints and tips.

Quoted for agreement.
The VFX/CG people might start to take themself seriously (instead of dwelling in hundreds of pages over how Michael Bay raped their chidlhood comic book fantasies...)
I really appreciate what the FX guide crew is doing there.

I'm so sorry for having an opinion about the editing style of an otherwise good free video. It bothered be a bit is all, no need to 'prove myself' or whatever point you're trying to make. It's just an opinion.
[edit] I'm pretty sure the jokes they kept making were meant to be tongue in cheek, so me laughing should even be a compliment as their humour obviously worked.
No news about Combustion?? no Combustion 2008 ?? i think that app is not developed anymore right ?? How much Flame cost if anyone can tell me ?

flame ~$250,000
flint ~$100,000

I find the fxguide pieces very informative. They make for great lisening while working. That they are free is a testament to how generous the whole crew is.
I'll forgive if they aren't produced as perfectly as a BBC News report.

Has the Foundry mentioned a release date for Nuke 5?

No official Nuke 5 release date as yet. Bill Collis seemed to suggest that what Matt and the others where showing at IBC was in realm of 'tech demo' as in "it's coming and we will ship as soon as we have a stable version". The guys at the Foundry have been really good trying to adress issues of quality assurance in recent times. I personally think that we will see it before the end of the year, which gives me enough time to put cash away for a new box to run it on.
Also I would expect to see a few more features than they showed at IBC squeezed in to a final 5.0 release. they have been hinting at a few things since before NAB and I hope the produciton cycle gives them time to squeeze them in.
