View Full Version : Pole Vector parenting?

I have a rig that I've just set up (first maya rig) and I have the reverse foot and IK with pole vector for the knees. The question I have is should I be linking the pole vector contol objects to any part of the bones? It seems like a bit of a pain to have to move them along with the character all the time, but I've tried linking them to the thighs with very strange results and also tried to the root which I'm figureing wouldn't be that great cause if the characters hips rotate, then the knees would move just as much and I'm thinking that wouldn't be very desirable. Anyone got a preferred way to handle this?

Cheers,

Most of the time the knee rotates with the foot, so try playing with the pole vector parented to your foot control.
