I am getting an odd error with Shag Fur (Max4.2.6). After working on a file for a while I get odd frames where random patches of fur don't render at all, or render at a much reduced density, on single or consecutive frames. Re-rendering the same frame numerous times can give different results each time. The fur is converted to Cloth Mesh, with Simcloth appllied and colisions calculated. There aren't any animated parameters (apart from the SimClothMod) and there are no noise controllers et al assigned to any tracks.
I can fix it by removing the emitter, collapsing it, then re-picking it, but as the problem happens at random I'd rather avoid it than fix it every time (we all know how slow Shag is to render).
Any ideas?
