Title: Why do they call it Snake Mountain?
Name: Cole Eastburn Cole Eastburn
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

I did a landscape study of a mountain range at sunset and wanted to put to practice what I learned from studying it. So I started a random sketch painting and this snake shape kind of emerged from it then just ran from there. Done in photoshop cs and a little in painter. I think I might do some more concepts based on the idea of giant mythical creatures. Like the world is made up of them, and the only time they will move is if awakened or something. Maybe earthquakes happen when they're having a bad dream and do that kick thing in there sleep. Ever do that?...I freaking hate it when I do. Anyway, about 5-6 days in photoshop/painter. All crits and commments are most welcome and appreciated as always.

Great sense of scale and love the colours. You should roll with the concept and so some more.

Also good to see your work in ImagineFX.

The red mountains look awesome.. that was very clever to colour them like that instead of making them gray. It also creates a nice contrast between the snow and the exposed rock.

Thanks, I am really glad the sense of scale is reading. I didnt want to do the same old trick of throwing a human in the foreground to achieve the scale. And I tried birds...but they were way to tiny and barely showed up. So I'm glad its still reading as big snake you dont want to mess with.

... i like it, but those brush strokes in bg(sky) look fake(probaly because it is only place where you use them), like ps effect.

4 stars my frend

Cole this is such a good paining. The movement the colors and the brush strokes are so rhythmic. They give such life the the drawing. It almost looks like you have loosened up your style a little bit. I maybe wrong, but the last couple of your drawings are really loose that is some spots are really rendered and other are left with a sketchy feel. I love it. I still have trouble doing this myself. I feel that if a certain spot only has a few strokes that it will not look as good. I am very impressed. Great job.

Thanks everyone. And thanks again bobby, wouldnt be on my way to where im going if it werent for you!

And thank you for the compliment Jason. Much appreciated.

As far as the badass demon thing that is in Imagine FX and why I havent posted it, I have to wait six months after publication of the image to post it anywhere, since it was an exclusive...but believe you me, that thing is going up in six freaking months. I am working on a lot of new stuff that I am very excited to show, but of course cant till its published...bum...to the errr.

Cheers and thanks again,
Cole
