I think the planet atmosphere could use a bit of work, ie there doesn't appear to be one. Looks like there's a glow sphere around the upper left edge, thats why I figure it needs a bit of work.
Laser beam looks good, although maybe it could use a bit more glow/burst at the emitter.
The ship and its materials look great!, overall nice work:)

The weapon is good, but the beam needs work. One thing I noticed was a problem in perspective and distance. The beam is the same side when it hits the planet as it is when it leaves the PK. That makes the planet look really small and less impressive.
The beam should get smaller as if gets farther away from us.

I see Mars is copping a pasting there, looks good, but I think the textures let you down a bit (bit of blurring on the planet from resampling?)

Just on the technical side, lasers don't show up in space. I really like the picture though. The atmosphere looks pretty good, real thin for a mars like planet. I think seeing a shockwave on the surface would be really cool!:applause: :applause: :applause:

:D thx for the constructive criticism guys. I might do and updated version and post it here soon. I did this image so long ago it was like april of last year i think!! that was when i was a noobula :) ohh wait i still am kinda :) heehe.
Barry how about a "radio active plasma filled space seeing lazer" :) a shock wave would look great but this image was a bit after the initial blast to the surface. But maybe your right it might just fit the image maybe a blured shock wave kinda thing ? ill play around with it.
