Black&White 04-03-2003, 06:26 PM i hae 40 gb hardisk.
I want to partition it without loosing data. What are the possibilites?
And how many partions are good for a 40 gb hardisk.
i have winXp - NTFS and planned also to use linux.

but be very careful with that... I've seen many instances where it ate the data and spit it out.... as processed feces. =D

Most modern Linux distros come with tools for doing this... Mandrake 9.1 in particular can resize your Fat & NTFS partitions on install. There is also an app called Parted that can be used to do this from linux....
As always though it is better to be safe than sorrry... Back up all your important data before attempting something like this - no matter which method you use...
