Area 51 has been bringing incredible visual effects to the screen for many years, beginning with work on Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions, Space: Above and Beyond and The X-Files, and most recently with HBO's "From the Earth to the Moon", and The Sci-Fi Channel's "Frank Herbert's Dune" and "Children of Dune". Tim McHugh is the founder and owner of Area 51, and the Visual Effects Producer on "Children of Dune". NewTek recently had the opportunity to speak with him about this project.

Wow great artical! I have a question, is this based on the book Dune by Herbert as well as Dune the movie, or was this one based on another one of his books? I just started reading Dune, and I haven't seen the movie version. Is it good as well?
And when does it come out on DVD?

I have loved Area 51 for quite some time now... they're one of the reasons that I got into LW to begin with...

However, all information on them dissappeared after
Space: Above and Beyond...

Do they have a website where we can tune in to their current projects and updates on where they're at? Where are they located now (and don't say "Somewhere in the Nevada desert...")

I still think the 'Hammerhead' is one of the best space fighter designs ever...

More info!!! The fans want more info!!!

Cheers,
AJE
