I was looking at a painter tutorial vid and at one point, the guy went into preferences and changed the color of the cursor from black to red. That would be awesome for me because I prefer to work in black and white most of the time but I don't see that option on my version of the program. He was running the Mac version of 9.0, I've got the Windows version of 10.1. Is there any way to enable this feature on my program?

It's not possible to set the cursor color in the Windows version.

I sent a suggestion to the Corel Painter team to be able to load our own cursors (like Opencanvas) but of course I got no reply back and I serious doubt they would consider it anyway.

In direct reply to your question yeah from what I checked only the Mac version is able to change the cursor colors, on Painter 6 the black triangle has a white dot to indicate the brush tip but Corel removed it after they bought Painter from the previous developers. There are a few brush cursors that are more easy to use against black brackgrounds but I found them ugly as sin.

Yeah I tried those too and they're a real eyesore. I find the "advanced brush ghost" thing really distracting and at the same time...hard to see. I only use it when I have a big brush and need to know exactly where the extents of it are. It's funny how this is like the premier natural painting app (although ArtRage does better impasto) and it has the clunkiest, most unnatural cursers I've ever used. I like MSPaint's better :P

P.S. It's good to know we have another Amiga fan here :) DPaint FTW!

I asked the Painter Team and they had not received any suggestions regarding this (loading our own cursors). Did you email painterteam@corel.com?

There is a big difference between considering and implementing. One can consider a lot of things, but given that there is limited time (and resources) to develop the application, you should not be surprised that every suggestion does not get implemented.

I didn't sent to that email I sent to guy responsible for Painter's interface, I do understand that some software houses are more easily to consider a user suggestion than others.

Amiga was the big creative output for me, I love Deluxe Paint 4, the AGA version is also great, to me it's still the best commercial pixel application I wish someone made a clone of it with tablet support ;D

DPaint was amazing for sure. My experience with it at an early age is probably why I still use MSPaint so much. It's surprisingly powerful actually, if it had just a few key features it would be my #1 sketching app.

Thank you Captain Obvious! And by the way snotty, there was nothing said about being "SURPRISED THAT EVERY SUGGESTION DOES NOT GET IMPLEMENTED." Where'd you pull that idea out of? I can take a few guesses...

[...] there was nothing said about being surprised that every suggestion does not get implemented [...]

Not in so many words, that is true. What was implied (and perhaps poorly worded) was that suggestions are usually reviewed, and then put in order of priority. Resources being limited, not all suggestions can be implemented: you start at the top of the list and move down with time. The list is typically way longer than the time allows.

Experience has shown that this is not obvious to everyone, and that's what I wanted to clarify.
