Pit: this work is an answer to people who say C4D doesn't have the right modeling tools, it's a fantastic work, i love the details, can we see a wireframe please? :thumbsup:

wow awesome !! did you model poly by poly or box ??
C4D still rules in my book :)
Thank you all for the kind replies! :)
@ ThirdEye_01: Yeah- I donīt lack any tools for modeling in C4D - (donīt even want N-Gons). The attached wire pic is lousy quality due to 20 k limit - sorry!
@ Sebek 27: Poly/poly modeling - in fact, I never do boxmodeling, but thatīs just all about personal preference.

Ultra-clean mesh, outstanding precision, i'm a big fan of your work (not only this one, i remember a lot of other meshes you've produced, they were all so clean and detailed). Your wireframes make me remember some (great) Bunk's work :thumbsup:
p.s. any chance to know anything about your GI settings and rendertimes? (Which cpu also?)

Very nice model, I agree with the other this is a prime example of the mdeling capabilities of this application.
woo hoo get this baby textured and in the gallery. lets show a few more folks how C4d can really model.
can't believe that people saw pexels little falk grenade and were like I didnt know C4D could do that I thought it was to weak. sheesh ( well actually it is cause he used better boole) but what the heck.
sweet model that is great man and that wire is really nice loookin.

WOW, very nice :thumbsup:
I can't wait to see it textured. :)
What did you use for the hair?

very nice, now it just needs a good bump/displacement map to get in a little bit more detail along with a good texture and you're there.
Wow!
@squidinc: I used HairDepartment for these testrenderings - for the final piece Iīll use Shave. (I hope that update is available soon - canīt wait to play with that!)
@ThirdEye_01: You think of Bunkīs meshes when you see my stuff! Thatīs one big compliment - thanks a lot! I havenīt seen to much of Bunkīs work, but what Iīve seen, I really love. He is a great modeler.
The GI setting is pretty quick and dirty - didnīt finetune anything - so there will be a lot of room for improvement.
Well here goes - GI settings are:
Strength: 90%
Accuracy: 50%
Prepass Size: 1/1
Diffuse Depth: 3
Stochastic Samples: 200
Min Res: 75
Max Res: 150
Identical Noise Distrubution on
Flat color material: (R: 100 G: 96 B: 82 Brightness: 96) set to Oren-Nayar, Diffuse Falloff - 15%, Diffuse Level 100%, Roughness 70 %
Rendertime (800 x 600) was about 10 Min. on AMD 2200+ 1gig RAM
Let me know if I left something out.
@ Kaiskai: Thanks a lot - very kind of you!
@ JIII: Thanks! Texturing will take a while - unwrapping alone will be a days work (or more!) But I will get to it. I didnīt see the mentioned work of Pexel, so I canīt comment on it, but I think heīs doing some pretty awesome stuff.
@: Phasmatis: Thanks! Hair done in HairDepartment
@mdme_sadie: Thank you - yeah - need to do a little more modeling (canīt get enough of that) and then Iīll go for the bump and displacement for further detail - still a long way to go.

I recently posted a WIP of my own in the WIP forum here at CGTalk looking for some feed back and suggestions. Didn't get a lot of help and one guy told me I needed to get a new program.:rolleyes: :shrug:
Well your image definately shows that C4D has all the right stuff. Great modeling.:cool:

pit: lovely stuff.. looking forward to end result. when you poly model how do you get rows of polys all aligned so neatly...or is this the ability to live through tedium...and align each one perfectly or are there any tips you have?
little comment...very little...don't want to sound like i'm knocking it (cos i'm not)...but on the ear part on the inner swirl i think it sticks out to much..imho and its very humble opinion...but then again who knows what kinda ear something like that would have. otherwise i love it...its gonna be great.:shrug:

is he for real....try another program!!:airguitar
haha, and here Third Eye was just hoping it would be me he could lambaste over this latest suggestion re-C4D and modeling woes... :scream: :scream: too funny...
Listen up.... I have taken this app part of this discussion down to the modeling thread ok... Pit has really done a great project thus far and deserves the accolades that stem forth from this thread.
After all... no matter the app, it's approaches to modeling or the machine, it is all about the imagination of the artist and the end result, to which...
Yea Pit ... looking awesome :bounce: :bounce: :beer: :thumbsup:
Warning: Donīt ever change your e-mail adress in your profile - youīll not be able to activate your account after you done so. Iīve been shut out for 2 days - not being able to reply, upload images etc. Like closing the door , then realising your keys are still lying inside on the desk.
Well, as mentioned : out in the cold for two days not being able to reply to your extremly kind comments. So here goes:
@ miketche: Thanks for the compliment. And donīt listen to such utter crap - do your thing! (Looks cool for a first char!)
@ Flingster: Thanks, bud! About the poly rows: I model using the clone tool a lot -> cloning -> drag points in position-> create polys with bridge tool -> drag polys in position (now with R8, the edge tools has increased workflow a lot ). Aligning polys never occured tedious to me, because I never thought of it as aligning. Iīll try to explain, but it might sound funny or Iīll not be able to explain correctly. The ideal is: every single poly must fulfill a purpose, either to describe mass or form, else it can be neglected/deleted. Basicly it is a question of tension - of not overstretching a poly and not have it so relaxed that you would need 2 rows to describe the form. Finding the right position and angle is the "hard" part. So to me itīs not so much a question of aligning, because the poly has to be there, at that spot, to describe what it has to describe. The principle of edge loops is certainly helpful as a underlying structure or skeleton if you will. (For more info on edge loops Iīd recommend a visit at the spiraloid forum at www.spiraloid.com Lots of excellent modelers to learn from there.)
Iīm afraid it all sounds pretty weird and for the most part comes with practise.
I always draw a lot before modeling or (not so often) sculpt a small reference in Super Sculpey (mostly cause itīs fun!). Drawing really helps understand the form you want to model and will speed up the process.
@randyrives: Thank you!
@Mentat7: Thanks! Sorry to hear you need a doctor ;) Be sure to show yor work here as well.
@JIII: That flak thingy looks great - not my world, but cool anyway!
@S3D: Thanks :)
@pupii: Thanks a bunch! I love your work!!! PUPII SAID SUPER! :buttrock:
@Manilo: Thank you!
@ CosmicBear: Tausend Dank! But front page - nahh - Iīll leave that to ThirdEye, pupii and Squidinc - (u rock guys!)
@S3D: Thanks again, mate

i thought it had been changed to 20000 which i thought was draconian enough...10000 seems a bit rough!

v.v. nice, quite original too. All could suggest is perhaps adding some sort of ear lobe to the bottom of the ears to break up the circular shape.
Thanks Mash! Youīre right - the ears need some attention. I liked them at one point, - where the model looked more like the product of a love affair between Minnie Mouse and King Kong - but now ..... Iīll attend to it. Thanks again.
Oh -Mash - forgot to say: really like your new avatar!!!.
PS: Maybe ThirdEye already told you, but now you look really drunk! ;)
