hi,
here's my pc spec:

PIV 2.533
AsusP4PE + 1GbDDR333
Geforce4400
+
WinXP Pro
Detonators (41.09, 42.30, 43.03)
Directx9

opengl stopped working today.
It's not a hardware problem, direct3d works fine (pixel/vertex shaders etc too)

I reinstalled 3 different version of detonators (yeah, destroying them every time)
reinstalled directx9
same result:
opengl doesnt work (opengl meaning everything from ligthwave to epsxe to quake3)

the last thing i remember installing was MatlabR13, but that's not really opengl related...

anyone ever experienced the same thing?

 i dont want to reinstall windows

1) Uninstall the dets again. Destroy them. DON'T REBOOT YET. Go to ctrl panel, system-devices-device manager-video. Remove the nvidia card if its still there. You can also do this through add remove hardware.

Shutdown the system. Ground yourself by touching the case. Open the computer, remove the video card. Blow out the dust from the fan, and generally do dust removal on it. Verifty the fan still works. Then put the card back in (reseating it FIRMLY) the slot, and try again. [Sounds silly, but do it anyway]

Remember not to double click the nvidia.exe for the drivers, but to extract them using winzip or another unzip utility, then pointing windows to the location of the driver. Otherwise XP will keep auto loading the last set of drivers.
