while trying to search for this i keep getting this annoying error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /var/www/html/search.php on line 838

issue #1
i have flv files that are made of of flash animations i would like to use as a roto plate on an image plane.
i can export the flv file as an avi file but when i want to import the small avi file into the image plane of a camera i'm unable to do so.
is there a certain codec to use when exporting out as avi?

issue #2
also i read that i can import iff file sequences.
it imports correctly but when scrubbing through the timeline the image plane does not animate through the iffs.

please help

i was able to somehow get some iff loaded as a sequence.
there are some iff seq i can load and there are some i cant.

i'm having another problem.
while scrubbing through the timeline sometimes one of the iff image thats on the image plane will shift, no the image plane itself but the actual image itself.
i sorta have a fix for that and that's to reload the image seq.
is there a way to prevent this?

you can try this if you are having issues with image planes: create a poly plane, assign a lambert with an image sequence texture plugged into it's color and parent the plane to the camera of your choice.
you can use jpegs and tga and iff and loads of other image kinds btw.

For better image sequence performance, enable caching on the file node.

thanks for your replies.
just seems that maya only likes a certain type of image sequence naming convention.
some reason it doesn't like img seq's of no more than 4 leading zeros.

Maya definitely has issues with naming conventions for image sequences. If memory serves, the best option is [name.#.ext] with no frame padding (no leading zeros).

Your problem was using the flash image sequence. Maya will take all the image types it can export, tiff, tga, jpg etc//// But for better performace you're better using it's native file format iff (which you've discovered works)...

As for the frame padding I haven't had a problem with name.####.ext which would work more universally than name.#.ext as a lot of programs would go (1,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,2,20,21 etc...)
I also wouldn't imagine you having a shot anywhere near 9999 frames long!!!
