i`m wondering if i`m just going to use the sky as bg or if i`m
gonna put in some distant mountains? what do you guys think
feel free to say what YOU think would kickass as a bg :)

Some distant mountains would look good. The rocks look a tad too smooth..

Som alltid ser dette veldig bra ut:)

hi,
from this perspective, mountains would need to be really high and would not look I would go for a more dramatic sky with more red in it.

Yeah, I like the new one. The rocks in the back look like a giant hand and surround the actors nicely.

he-man rocks:xtreme: :xtreme: :xtreme:

todays progress, the sky and lighting are just temporary
but i still feel somethings not quite right compositioning wise

the background now takes too much importance (in the sketch it just filled the blank volumes, now it "eats" the subject itself)
use fog, haze, dof, anything, just keep it in the background! ;)

I love where this image is going.....love the style!

He-Man rules :xtreme:

I agree with dies-irae that the background is a bit too prominent though. You could combat is by adding haze or DOF as he mentioned, or by even just darkening the colours there.
But otherwise, the actual design of the background looks cool

I'd love to see a bigger render of those models!

Yeah, some DOF or Desaturation would really be excellent!

Am I the only one who sees the real problem?!?!? Its his Hair! My GOD! hehe, just kidding, I personally feel that the image is quite good...for some reason the bacground seems to have a different perspective then does the foreground, but appart from that I like the cartoony feel! Great work!

well thanks for the great replies! you guys are the best :)
as for the progress of the bg i`m going for volumetric lightning
with some cool lightbeams coming thru the cliff in the bg but i cant get them sharp enough(the lightbeams that is), here`s a screen shot hope you`ll see what i`m doing wrong :)

nope, Snake Mountain.... :D

Cool pic, definitely agree with the others that the background sky should be a tad deeper, with maybe some reds/oranges in the mix

what was I thinking of then, my braincells are pretty fecked due to alcohol abuse... anyways I like the volumetric feel, gives it a nice fantasy feel to it...
