Hello.
Are there any auto enthusiasts here to give feedback on my new model? It is the Mercedes Benz S600 sedan which goes for about $120,000 at last check.

Great looking model, it's a shame you need to dirty it up to make it blend with the background. The specular highlight on the left rear window in the second picture looks a bit strange as well.

It doesn't seem like you have much work left to do building the model, what are you planning on doing with it?

I don't think you dirtied it up. I like it very very much. Good work, can't wait to see what you do next.

BTW: Waht prog and renderer? The grain looking DOF looks like VRay. I plan to start using VRay eventually instead of Brazil (at least until next Brazil release)

Wow, just saw ur site. AMAZING. How long have you been modelling?

I would love to see a timelapse video of you. If you have ever thought of doing one of those, you can always get Camstudio for free. It is located at http://www.atomixbuttons.com/vsc/index1.html

Again, very awesome.

Excellent work.. It is almost photoreal but makes me think of a toy on a set. Could be the lighting or the camera's focus. As far as the modeling and texturing though, great job.

Great modeling! as a fellow car enthusiast theres only two things that kinda pop out at me. one: your missing the crease or what ever its called on the front side, it runs from the headlamp to the wheel. two: the front grill seems kinda small, theres to big of a gap between the light and grill. well other than those two things great model.

Im also modeling a benz but im still in the very early stages.Im modeling the CL600. This is my first car model attempt. I thought it was gonna be easy.i should have started with a much simpler car oh well its good practice.:wip:

two things.... the cracks/spacer in the road bugs me a little bit as do the leaves on the road. The crack bugs me because it is exactly perfect with no weathered down edges or imperfections.. try altering the texture map just a bit and it should be fine. A side note...I drove my uncles "cheaper" Benz yesterday and I understand why they cost so much....they have almost every gizmo you can think of inside the dashboard and the handling/feel of the ride is absolutely incredible. Good pick for a model!

Hello and thanks for the useful input-

I must appologize for a slight delay in response; I was overcome by a case of gaming addiction.

Verminator- I'm pretty much 'planning' to make stills with this model. Nothing of any particular note really.

FrageNSTEIN- Thanks, glad someone is still visiting the old site these days. I used to have a lot more on it until Yahoo changed my plan from unlimited space to 100 megs.
I use Max4.2 Final Render.

sick_azz_3D- Ah yes, you are quite correct. I intend to correct this problem at next availability... the price I pay for mediocre blueprint material.
Oh and since you're undoubtedly a good modeller and a fan of cars, what do you think of the megacar conversion of the Sclass and Audi? (www.megacar.com)

Matches14- hmm... I am not quite sure how altering the texture can affect the cracks/leaves. Do you refer to the bump map?

The following is an image I rendered earlier; it reflects a 'moonlight scene'. I thought the conservative lighting was of note.

...

...and on a totally unrelated note, and to show my gaming addiction was not totally a waste of time...
here is me cutting off Luke Skywalker's head.

I don't know what to say about the leaves...it's just soo close but not there if you know what I mean. Bump/Color/Diffuse maps most likely for the cracks. I just think that they need some imperfections and that extra geometry would be pointless when you could do it easier with textures. IMHO it needs some chipped away edges or not so "clean-cut" As far as the color/texture maps go, a dirt stain near the edges or maybe even a large brown procedural with a very light opacity over the whole road section might help add to the photorealism you have SOOO close. Any chance you can post a Wireframe pic of this scene? I'm interested in the poly #'s. Good Job.
