View Full Version : Zonie Perfect - "Vending Machine", "Donuts" and "Shredder"
Cadinho 09-07-2007, 03:22 PM Hi everybody.
These are the first 3 TV spots we did for "Zone Perfect" bars. There are 2 others that I will post later.
The main idea is that "Zonie" always saves people who are about to have an unhealthy snack, switching their chips or donuts for Zone Bars at the very last second.
To view or download the videos, see a mini making of or to know more about them, please visit our website: SEAGULLSFLY (http://www.seagullsfly.com)

Just to make sure, these spots have been made by the whole studio! I would list all the names here, but that would be too much and I am afraid of forgeting somebody...
But THANKS A LOT! We all appreciate it!

Hey Ricardo, where do you have time to work on these projects in between working at McDonalds and feeding your 14 children?
Hahaha...nah mate that was great! I'm loving that character and can't wait until you post the other two!

Well, I quit McDonalds... It wasnīt exciting enough for me. About my 15 children (yeah! I am a father again!) I feed them during render time...
T... always him. You must be wired to the forum or something! How come you are always one of the "firsts" to see every single thread in this forum?! :)
RobertoOrtiz: Wow... that was FAST!!! Anyway, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the plug! We are pretty amazed with all of the positive feedback weīre getting with this one! It makes all the time we spent on this more than worth it!
Cory_Dermont: Isnīt that Cool?! Credits to our web department!

Neato. He seems more like a villain to me though. I don't know about you guys, but when I order some chips, I want chips... not a nasty dry health bar.
The animation was great though.
Great work! Congrats to everyone who worked on it!

Wow... I love the one with the tattoo that covers the girls entire body...... very clean and tight comp. As for these there very nicely implemented....reminds me allot of the trident gums commercials. very well done. Congratz to the entire studio for such great work.
Cheers.

Well if you are lazy enough for not posting images directly or linking the videos, why the heck should we click in the damn link? I can post some images too and direct them to some herbal viagra website.
Ok, I'll click. Well, ok. First of all, I need to have some fancy internet broadband to load this website. Why don't you put a pdf version of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment while we, poor 3rd world miserable people, wait your site load? Oh, did I mention it's HEAVY?
Ok, the damn heavy fancy pants site finally loaded. I must admit, it's pretty impressive. Colorful and full of impressive works. Very cool indeed. Loved the layout.
The animations you didn't link are extremely well done! Jaw dropping rigging, shading and animation, not to mention the compositing and all the preproduction bullshit stuff nobody ever posts and is so important. Very professional, indeed!
Congrats, Cadinho. Afterall, you really deserved front page.

Could you give us some info on what you used to make these ads?
as in what 3D proggy (looks like Max)
what render system (i see HDRI but, through what)
what proggie u used for comping
what plugins?
how many render passes and what render passes did u use (and maby a reasoning behind it)?
it looks wicked, LOVE the comping and the colour treatment.
would love to take a look at the facial rig that you made..looks intricate, any place i can find GOOD tutorials to make a similar rig?
sorry for the 101 questions, just that is one awsomely done add....something I am trying to achieve at work, but NEVER seem to get it right :(
All and any help/info would be GREATLY appreciated :D
Looks great!
I do alot of work for them as well, packaging side. I did notice one thing though, the Zone bar in the machine is not the same one as the one the actor has in his hands. I think the one in his hand is either the older wrapper or the Canadian wrapper. Sure most people wouldn't notice though ;-)
Great work!

This machine has a cool system where a series of solid wires modeled in a "spiral" shape, are lined up in several shelves and the products are setted between the spiral "paces".
When you put the coin and press the button, the spiral containing the snack you want rotates and leads the item to the edge of the shelf, where it falls down and can be caught through a small window on the lower part of the machine.
It looks weird the first time you see it, but thatīs how it works... :)

Lots of questions indeed! But no problem, Iīd love to answer them!
3D Software: 3dsmax
Render: MentalRay
Post Production: Combustion and After Effects
Plugins: None
Render Passes: Not 100% sure, but probably a full render and an IDs pass, so we could isolate specific parts for color correction, etc.
About the facial rig, it would be better to make a Camtasia video or something, but I wonīt lie to you and say that we will make it, since we have tons of other projects going on right now, but I can say that I will try to... deal?

SSssshhhh... donīt say that out loud again, pleeeease!! :D
LOL
You are probably right. Well, we used the package illustration the client sent us. Not sure if there was any legal implication with that but... you are into fine details! Thatīs for sure! :applause:

I agree with Marcio Bukowski, you are always in vacation, Cadinho.
Some times I see him passing by in the Studio just before he goes to the beach.
HAHA... just kidding.
I liked very much the final result.
Congratulations to Seagulls Fly team.
