Title: Underwater
Name: Sebastian Richter
Country: Germany
Software: 3ds max, After Effects, mental ray, Photoshop

Is there any fish in the sea? no there is not, thats because the might penguins do such a great job down there. Especially the linux penguin does a lot there ;-) but seriously... i wanted to do a dynamic and refreshing key visual. Everything was rendered in 3dsMax 9. To get better control over the image the output was in rpf format... so i could better compose the different objects in the scene. The output size was about 4000 pixel in width so it could be used as key visual in a printed ad or some poster here on my walls at home. I am not that sure whether it is much or not.. but the whole compositing took over 30 layers in after effects to get that look. Hope you like it.

I like a lot as the water is seen and the particles, the detail of the lighting is excellent.
Bye, and congratilations

this is not a movie... its just one image i made. i guess the fact that i used after effects lead u on a false path. I used AE because it can control the z-axis information from the rpf file format. So i can do correct depth blurring and id-matte. I suppose combustion would be better to compose a single image... but i dont have combustion. Hope u like it anyway. :)

Very nicely done. Looks like a still frame right out of a David Attenborough documentary.

5 stars

fantastic work, Sebastian. I'm not familiar with 3dsMax (I use Cinema 4d on a Mac) I was wondering: are the bubbles trails an After Effects ,,, effect or 3d objects?
Great water anyway. My compliments.

thanks for your comments everyone.

@eremes: The bubbles were rendered as particles from a particleflow, and later composited into the image. I am working on my demoreel right now. There will be a breakdown of the penguin scene.
