View Full Version : Wings/Povray Audi
cosmonaut 04-03-2003, 07:25 AM Here are some pics of an Audi TT I've been working on in Wings. The renders were done with Povray (messing around to see what kind of GI can be done). Also, the model isn't finished since it's pretty obvious parts of it are in bad shape, namely the headlights/breaklights. Not sure how much more work I'll put into it since I really want to try some character modeling in wings. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks.

Very nice model. I like your style.
The only thing is that the car is a bit to tall (I think).

WoW! Excelent work!
I think you should finish it :D
Can you show us a capture from wings please?
I am very curious about the approach you took on modeling the car.
Keep up the good work :applause:
Best regards.
P.S.: the car is a little "too round" on top.

Thanks for the comments guys. I can post some other wireframes later to show more detail. When I'm satisfied I'll post the actual model if anyone would like it.
konst: Thanks for the comments. I think the apparent height is probably due to the angle of the shots, but I'll go back and check my references.
JPGargoyle: I did this mostly to learn wings and try my hand at car modeling. This is the first sub-d model I've ever done. I've been an animation master user off and on for several years but never got very comfortable with their "patch" modeling. So far modeling in Wings has been much easier for me. Anyway, I used the mustang tutorial Mustang Tutorial (http://www.cmistudios.com/lessons/mustang_part1_tut/index.htm) as a reference. I also downloaded Hellborn's viper model (http://www.renderosity.com/messages...Message=1103484). Both were extremely helpful. I also used an audi blueprint reference from www.suurland.com. My basic approach was to start with a box, rough out the body shape, and slowly add the details. I actually saved to different files at different stages so if you like I can also post some pics of the model progression. Also, I think you're correct about the top being too round. I'll address that.

Hey yea, this is looking great thus far... from the cube out eh, same approach I usually take, though I must say that you are much further along than I when it comes to actually making something from reference... cool stuff... keep it going man... :applause: :bounce:

Are you using KayosIII's POV plugin for this ?
Very nice. How much had editing needs to be done to make this render so nice ? I mean for lights and camera and such ?

Thanks markyjerky. Yep, KayosIII's POV plugin (so I'm still on 0.98.08b). The camera, the model, and most of the materials were straight from wings. I did tweak the lighting so that it used a large ambiant sphere (what the povray manual called Radiosity without conventional lighting).
