Not sure if this has been posted already, but here goes the link anyway.

3ds Max 2008 demo clips (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=9997279)

Seems to me that 3ds Max is moving towards being a architectural modeler or something. Hope I'm wrong, though.

In max 2008, the Review feature will be GPU based to preview shadows on the level shown in the demo, if I understand that correctly. So will there be a minimum GPU Ram OR bit (512 Mb-128-bit) that you'll need to have?
I just got a 8600GTS 512 mb-128-Bit card from EVGA, will that be enough, will I need to upgrade or is it too early to tell ?

Ohh man!! Don't tell me to upgrade... I'm holding tight to my old-loved X800.. I know I need to upgrade but I just bought Adobe Flash 1 month ago and I don't have the bucks to afford a new VGA... or PC...

But that's just the hardware/software industry way to make us fell "old"

Apparently to get anything other than GPU shadows you need shader model 3 capability on the card.

An 8600 should be OK - not sure about the x800.

The new subobject tool looks really nice, I miss that tool from my XSI past.... but for what I saw the XSI way of moving around subobject level was a bit more streamlined.

Now they should pay the guys from polyboost a big load of money and implement it directly into the Max code.
Polyboost is just sooo amazing.
