View Full Version : Setting controls to mouse buttons
Rogosh 04-03-2003, 03:20 AM My prior mouse recently went, so i replaced it and bought the logitech mx500. I really like how the mouse feels and the options it gives me, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to get the standard 3 button control configuring working with it. Both the 1st and 3rd Mouse buttons work fun, but the middle one i used to pan/rotate camera now zooms. I've searched through the help file that comes with the program, their site, and google but i haven't found any information on this. Can somebody here help me out? I did install the software that came with the mouse and it's running through my ps2 port (if that helps anyone). I feel rather dumb asking about this problem, but i haven't been able to figure out how to fix this.

I faced a ton of problems with a Logitech mouse recently.. I do infact belive I uninstalled the drivers and puff, voilá, it instaltly worked fine. It sounds just like what you're describing, that the middle-mouse didn't work properly. I tried all the various middle-mouse-button settings I could find and nothing seemed to change anything.
Try uninstalling and see if that doesn't help. A sucky solution, so maybe someone with actual knowledge of the problem can come in and provide a good way to solve it :)
Howdy !
As gaggle says, try not to install driver software, eventhough this sounds a little weird !
I've been using logitech for ages, and i've always had that strange problem: if i install the drivers, the wheel for example works fine in many apps, like it scrolls down layers in Photoshop, or i can scroll down a library in Flash, but in other apps and specially games, it won't work aymore... and won't zoom/pan in Max !
If i don't install the d@mn driver, then i can't scroll my layers in Ps and such, but all of a sudden i can use the wheel to zoom and pan in Max, and it works in games...
Don't know why this is happening, but i decided i would not install any more logitech drivers as i prefer being able to zoom/pan in Max and change weapons in CS using the wheel : )
hope this helps

There is a fix for logitech wheel/middle button's for games. I'm using the logitech drivers but I also installed the fix long ago so that might be why mine works fine. Search logitech's site or google for "logitech wheel button game fix".
