View Full Version : Failed Character Attempt
Matthewma 04-03-2003, 02:09 AM Posted a WiP a while ago and was hoping this to be my first completed character, however due to a few PC failures it'll never be.
So, thought it would be wise to post it as a WiP to get some tips before I start modeling my next character.

Modeling looks ok, i'd say your biggest problems are with your texturing.
- The eyes stand out the most, they are way too white.
- Around the ear it looks like the texture is stretching (the pink area)
- And the nostrils look alittle weird, maybe if you added some more definition to them.

Awsome D00d! But are we gonna see an animation?!
Hahahaha :p
Serriously now, Im not really a cgtalk fanboi. Im liking the colors, and i think the bright eyes kinda fit the look (in the close up the eye ARE too washed out, but i think that might be a lighting problem). His body looks kinda sparse, maybe add a belt/sash around him. Also, i think the belt should be flush with his body, like it was tight, and add loops from the shorts, so the belt is actually holding the pants up ;)
i like his hair, but maybe you should texture a bit of the scalp so the hair grids blend in with the geometry.
belive it or not, its looking good
:applause:
i dig the style, and the comments about the texturing are dead-on. something about the forearms isn't right either i'd check out some anatomy books, since this is a humanoid character... however, maybe you intended them to look like that. just doesn't sit right with me, tho.

What exactly is he supposed to be. He kind of looks like a goat man. You should ask yourself, who is this guy really. Then you will be able to easily fix any modelling problems, or add what you need to the model. Remember, backstory is key.
I should know as I am a wealthy land owner. Keep up the good work, and you will make it far in this industry
