Hi all. Been watching the forums for a little while now.

I've been working on this in my spare time and feel a little stuck. I feel like there are some depth issues.

It was originally intended to be the starting frame of a slow fly-over of a human city built into a range of tall mountains.

Any crits or comments would be really amazing.

Thanks.

Hey..

Looks good. I think the main weakness is the overall composition, unless of course you plan to add more. The city is in the lower 1/3, and a lot of relatively negative space in the top.

Overall it's pretty good.

Besides the composition being too symmetrical, I think the edges of the closest mountain is too dark (or the ones behind it are too light). The edges should look a little softer and a little more blended together. If you wanted more definition of where the edge was, you could always have lighting to show the shapes.

I like the mood so far, it going to be interesting to see the final result, I see some issues on the background sky though, the black levels are too dark compared with the mountains shadows. try to low down a bit the background dark levels, I will look forward to see the WIP images

Hi all,

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.

phix; You're right. I had originally thought about doing a slow push in, following a steampunk type of zeppelin so I had framed up a bit. But I think I want the focus to be on the city itself.

killer; I see what you mean. Thanks for the notes.

jaime; Again, thanks for the notes. Just to be clear, the shadow value in the background sky should be lowered to match the shadows in the foreground?

Hopefully, I'll get some time this weekend to post some improvements.

Thanks again.
