You haven't shown a render, or mentioned what software you are using, so it's kinda tricky to give much advice.

However, if you are using shadow maps (used in most programs for soft-edged shadows, especially on spot lights), then you might want to try increasing their size. I think the default on my apps is about 512x512, which sometimes gives weird blocky edges to the shadows, so that might be the problem.

I just assumed everyone used 3dsmax...lol....jk...that sounds like the problem...thanks...any size limit to the map? or just a rediculous number? go to like 900x900?

Well, bear in mind that increasing that amout does have an impact on rendering times, so just take it up to an amount that doesn't kill your computer. The higher the size, the better the quality :)
