hello
this is a thread i would launch for all max users who have many crashing problems, hope this will be read by a discreet guys just to know crashing pccured when working with max. Anyone should describe crashing happened to him.
If anyone has crash prob don't have 1001 possiblities, (should re-install, check drivers .....) i formated 3 times to try to resolve those problems but when resolved others appear, so:
_I have crashing problems, when rendering (before or after complete, with or without renderer plugin), some scene that worked fine with r4 crash in r5. (or using atmospheric plugin, like afterburn just when testing parametring afterburn: it work in a first rendering !!)
_ sometimes crashs when modeling ( moving vertex !)

I know the possiblities of autoback, hold, saving with increment .....
but sometimes there no solution (like rendering)
with those crashs, some surprises when trying s.thing (like the camera surprise animated along spline few threads before)

I hope that max users will concentrate on artistic side of a scene than technic one.

At least it did for me anyway. I couldn't render a scene more than once without a crash. It looks like Nvidia still has some polishing to do with this optimized driver.

I had a problem with my 64 meg video card (I thought). But this was not the case, it was the modem. I disabled the modem and all problems went away.

Also, make sure you computer meets minimum requirments for system config. You may have currupt ram as well. Try swapping it out with different ram.

Another problem I ran into is my HD cache was 2 megs. I bought myself a 120 gig 8 meg cache drive (through recommendation from a friend) and all my rendering errors and slowless went away.

I would recommend a GeForce4 4600 ti 128meg for video as well.
