View Full Version : Post links to Corel Painter VIDEO TUTORIALS here:
Deathbliss 09-03-2007, 10:22 AM I'm going over the other tutorial thread here, but the links are out of date and in many cases not working. Besides which they are (so far) links to textual based tutorials. Well I can't speak for anyone else, but video tutorials work a lot better for me than any other teaching medium. So to start this off I have links to video tutorials that have to be paid for, but nothing free yet. I haven't been able to find a site with free, learn as you paint, video tutorials. So please post links to any Corel Painter video tutorials you have here - especially free ones.

OK, I've updated the list with a link to those YouTube videos. Still hoping that somewhere out there, a kindly artist is running a site with a lot of their own free English video tutorials.
Thanks for the links!

Hey you tried - OK? And I for one appreciate your efforts! Anyhow this is the whole reason I started this thread. The only to find some of these sites is to scour the various communities around an application because not everyone shows up on Google or Yahoo.
For all you experienced Corel Paint artists... Consider this a need you can meet! Create some video tutorials that walk viewers through how to create something. Doesn't matter if it's a beautiful seaside landscape or a naked anime chick (or a combination of both???). By teaching you help enforce important concepts in your mind, and others can benefit from your experience.
"But Deathbliss, how would we make a video tutorial?" To that I simply post this link:
http://www.camstudio.org/
If you get lost in the world of video and audio compression then PM me and I'll help out. Sooner or later I'll post some recommended codecs and settings.

OK, before you even install CamStudio you need to install either Xvid or X264 from here (http://www.free-codecs.com/). I just use the K-Lite Mega Codec pack:
-= Xvid =-
http://www.xvid.org/
-= X264 =-
http://x264.nl/
Next you need an audio codec, and I recommend Aud-X:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Aud-X_surround_codec.htm
I recommend this because my audio wasn't getting out of sync and I didn't hear a lot of pops and clips, or experience any fast forward audio with it. Every other audio compression I have tried gives me issues. Of course you can leave the audio uncompressed and run over it using VirtualDub, but I prefer to get everything done all at once, as quickly as possible.
Now download CamStudio (http://www.camstudio.org/), and then install it. When you fist open it go to Region and select Full Screen. Under Options/Program you want to check the first two options. Next under Options select, "Record Audio from Microphone". No go to Audio Options, and click on Audio Options for Microphone. Click "Choose Compressed Format" and select Aud-x from the top. The default first option is fine. Match that with the audio selection drop down box, so you want 22,050 KHz, 16 bit. Under Default Input Device select your audio card. Now go to Video, and under Compressor set either X264 to 10 or Xvid to an Unrestricted Profile, Single Pass, select the Target Bitrate Button and it will change to a slider, then select or type 5.00 compression. Press OK, make sure the Quality setting back in CamStudio is 100, press OK, and when you're ready press record.
For further help just PM me, and be aware that I am experience an MFC error right now and it might happen to you. I don't know what's causing it, but I'm looking into it.

You know, deathbliss,
since you're so enjoyable stubborn about getting this thing started (and didn't let yourself get intimidated by my spanish antiquity mayhem...:D ) I am increasingly fond of the idea of the Painter users creating video content.
Maybe I can make amends for my previous post (although the spanish speaking, Painter-6-using community might very well have waited for just that link...:scream: ). I downloaded the codecs.
Maybe you should suggest a bit of categorizing? Something like skill level (Painter usage level, i.e.) or something topic related?

Well after wrapping up your tutorial in a zip or rar with a readme you could follow this format I guess:
Name Of Lesson:
Skill Level: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced
(add details here if you want...)
By: Author of Lesson
DOWNLOAD:
Link to Lesson (http://linky)
I guess it's up to the poster's own asthetic tastes... Oh and I was going to make a video tutorial going over how to make a video tutorial, but that darn MFC error keeps happening - even with other capture programs! But I have a backup plan...

P.S. If you have video hosting details then PM me - I can help you out!
P.P.S. I got my tablet a few days ago! And I'm about as proficient as using it as Mr. Bush is in his position of US Presidency (my apologies to the few remaining Bush supporters...) Anyhow may I suggest a tablet boot camp video, going over hadn positions, tips and hits, etc. which will help the viewer transition to a tablet interface?
