OMFG:rolleyes:

Here we go....

1. Read the <expletive deleted> manuals.
2. Do the <expletive deleted> tutorials.
3. Search the <expletive deleted> web.
4. <expletive deleted> practice.
5. Then come here and ask intelligent questions!

Hope this helps. Seriously.

It still amazes me on how many people buy (giving benefit of doubt here) these rather expensive programs without any idea on how to use them:shrug:

You guys are way too bitter. Yeah, sounds like a dumb question, but a noob has to start somewhere.

This to me is one of those 'acquired' copy's of max questions. Cause no one in thier right mind is gonna spend close to 4k on a program they know nothing about or even where to start finding out 'how to start'. Even when I long long ago 'acquired' my first copy of 3d studio R2 (dos). I knew, or should I say had the drive to find the answers in books, fiddling with and just plain giving it to my friends and drawing info from each other. I dont wanna sound calous...oh hell, yes I do.. This is like asking an artist, "how do I become like you?" The answer is most likely gonna be something like, "well, pick up a pencil, draw what comes to mind and if it looks good then your already starting".

Yep, back when I "aquired" my copy of Max 3, I at least read those wonderful tutorials that explained to me the program and its interface. Finally after a year of using it and saving I finally had the courage to order the program and I can tell you that it was the best investment I ever made besides for getting my pc.

Definately start with the manual and tutorials but this could also help get you up and running;)

The poster could be using warez, or the kid could be using someone else's copy, like an educational version (school/college lab).

I rarely jump to the conclusion anymore that a noob query must be using warez. There are many other ways to get max legally other than buying it straight out... 30-day demo, educational license, dealer access, friend's house, etc.

Besides, I've seen warez copies of max, and they do come with the full help files, although I can't remember if they come with the tutorial examples or not.

All I'm saying is, it isn't worth the angst. It's more likely the kid doesn't know how to ask questions the smart way (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html).

My 2 cents.

Wow, thanks Posm. I'm bookmarking that and sending it to anyone on IRC that asks a stupid question. I'll probably have to make an alias for it due to use.

Hi, even Signal to Noise first post sound a little rude , I think thats the best way to learn Max 2one, and the max´s tutorials are very good indeed and they have a very good order.

Don´t make random web tutorials about effects and things like that

Just be patient and practice a lotttt !

welcome to the team anyway

Hope to see your work soon around here !

Cocoon, with a question like 2one's my response is meant to be rude. At least I personally deleted my "choice" expletives in advance of responding:)

We do strive to keep CgT with a 'GA' rating ;)

As far as I can tell, the only thing that rude posts do is vent steam and inflate egos.
