Hey.
Great Idea - Great Picture.
Very nice compositing.
But you should work on the metaltextures of the boat.
They look a bit like plastic ;)

Love it :applause:

jeb that ship is so cool. I love the Cartoon/realistic style. You should make a series pitch.

Any Hoo keep up the magic.

that is one heavy battleship... it would sink or fall over in a second. other than that, great work!

Great stuff man!! only qrit is that the dof is a bit to much, u lose some detail then. Else from that it is super:thumbsup:

I really like how you take little childrens toys and turn them into gun slinging things. It is always funny. I think your chicken was better, but that's because nobody expects to see a little chicken sprout guns. Nice work!

thanx guys for the replyes. i worked very hard in this.

i know it doesnt show too much detail, but that was the point for that image. the depth of the image is blury as you can see near the bucket border. the buttom of the ship is at that distance so thats why it has similar bluryness.
Also the design wasnt meant to be functional, its just a concept of an unreal object. (not everything has to be real, right?)

if you wondered how it looks close..here is a quick view. you can see how simple the modeling is.

I can't agree with you more. There is more than "realistic" in cg, just like what you focus on.

Great concept, great model, great texture. I want to see it animated, fighting other crazee ships, planes and giant monsters.

I'm surprised and some what bothered that this didn't get more replies!

This is just the breathe of fresh air we can use here, it's not too often that there's something very original!

It seems as though one needs to be plugged to get replies!

Anyway, I absolutely love it!

I was going to say that the bump map was too strong, but given the scale of the boat itself, it's perfect!

thanx again guys!!

hey adrian, check my site www.jeb.8k.com

i did a little sprite of it floating, its pretty crude and the compression is very bad(damn server!), but you can see it moving a little

jeb, very skilled

How can I learn to do this stuff too? I have the art talent and imagination, just don't know how to use these computer tools (though I'm VERY good with computers, just need to be set on the right path...).

and Turbonium, if you have all those things, then the 3d learning is pure mechanical. there is all the info you need in the web dude.

I love the design, however the depth of field mixed with the extream camera angle just bothers me (I find it strains my eyes) also it took me quite a while to find just where the water is, maby try making it a bit more reflective. Nobody else montiond any of this so maby it's just me.

Don

i get your crit about reflections, meybe thay could use more. but what i remember of when i took the pic is that it was very clear water. but its kinda hard to undertand enviroment behavior sometimes. ill take note for the next time

Wonderful as always jeb - it's great that you were able to get it all finished.
How long do you think you spent on texturing it???

jeb
04-08-2003, 03:09 AM
setting the unwrap took forevar like more than a week. painting the textures was a litle relaxing but also a bit long process, it took about 5 days i guess. the folder in my pc that has the psdīs of this model is about 1,9 gigabites:D i had the little help of one of the 3dtotal texture cdīs they are sweet!

here is the pic without cg or post
