Hey guys!
Ive got MAX 4.2 and 5, and Im not using 5 yet, because some people told me that there are no a lot of plugins of max for the 5 version, and those that works on 4.2 don't work on 5 version.
Is this true?
Do you think I can upgrade?

most if not ALL plugins that work with 3dsmax r4 work with version 5 as well,
you can upgrade without any problems.

keep in mind tho that files created with max5 cannot be opened in max4. there is a script that can 'help' with that, but it's not foolproof yet. so basically, there's no way back.

The plugins for Max 4 will work in 5. I have both versions have since switched everything over to 5 and have no problems with any of the plugins. Some might not work but the majority will

Howdy !

This is actually not exact, most R4 plugins (if not all) do work with R5, and don't need to be recompiled - Final Render i know has had an upgrade to R5 but it's one among many : )
I would recommand you to work with R5, unless you have some compatibility issues on specific works, but still Bobo has written a script called "back from 5" to be able to open your R5 files in R4.x...
