View Full Version : Strange fluid behaviour
Hunkadoodledoo 09-01-2007, 05:27 PM Does your cylinder begin falling while outside the domain and then come inside it? Don't know if that might cause the splashes to materialize out of nowhere, but maybe try to stretch your domain up above your cylinder and rebake. Good luck!
Edit: So I think it is the first time I have ever seen a reply put above the original post becuase of a change in time zones...But the original post is actually #2.

I just started to use Blender to check its fluid simulation capabilities. All in all it looks great, BUT I encountered this strange error. The object that resembles the lower half of a bottle is an imported LW object. The strange thing is, before the object (keyframed) even hits the water surface, there are splashes on its lower side. Obviously there's no chance for the water to get there before the object actually touches the water surface. Any hidden settings I missed? The dimension of the water object is set to 0.4, the bottle does have a 8cm diameter.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

P.S.: Is there a way to start a simulation with a relaxed water volume, like in a pool or do I need to fill my water domain each time with the liquid?

I can't answer the first question (sorry) but it might have to do with your mesh. I would try and create the same object in blender as you will find a way better sim will come with blender created objects than importation objects. So try to create that object in there and run it again see if that fixes it.
But i can try to give an option of a tech i use to get it set up with a "pool". I basically create a small cube inside of another cube. the size i want it to be in the domain and take it to the edges. Then add it as a fluid. This will create a block of fluid but if its already right on the sides it wont "fall" it will just sit there and be settled. It's worked for me.
So in ascii art (side view) it would look like this:
Box 1 = Domain
Box 2 = Fluid Box
