After Will Mendez's prank on the Lightwave community, I realized my evil ways and I want to join the XSI community. Hopefully someday I too can get an XSI tatoo and model soda cans. I understand now that "you get what you pay for", so I'm also getting Mac's because they're more expensive then PC's. Does XSI run on a Mac?

I think I'll make a short film about Softimage soda cans and they'll dance around and sing the feature list of XSI. Then they'll be a gun battle, Jon Woo style, at the end with carbonated soda shooting everywhere in bullet-time! And I'll dedicate it to my new best friend, Will Mendez, the sys admin/wall st broker/3d animator/corporate tatoo guy/forum member/and all around peachy guy.

Cheers.

Wow I have a fan now :) it's nice to be admired or hated isn't it?
Nice avatar as well glad that I was the cause of your wasted time in creating it.

This just proves that some wavers are very childish, If you're looking to start something here I turst you it will not last as long as the thread on Lightwave forum

You're peachy as well

Hi my name is takkun and I am 10 years old. My sack has not dropped so excuse the whiny voice. My life is really sad so please do not be so harsh on my stupidity. It is the only way I can act out. Online I can be the edge of my seat badass I could never be in real life. What 10 year old would let that pass by?

I have to go. I hear mommy coming

every once in a while somebody pops out that will make you doubt about the human race at large.
one would expect that after almost half thousand posts in a geek comunity somebody would develop at least some sense of humour, but hey, expectations are there to be deluded.

And to think I always thought XSI users were a sophisticated, mature bunch:hmm:

I don't know if you had a look at the thread that spawned this post, but I know that when I did I seriously wondered how some people can live with themselves; some replies had way too much venom in them, and from some others you could easily understand how lividly angry some peeps were while writing.
All this because of an April's fool from someone (Will) who (if you know him at least a tiny bit) couldn't mean any harm or insult to anybody not even if he tryied.

Makes you wonder how frustrated and repressed some guys can be.

And this is it for my contribution to this useless and blatantly OT thread.

Exactly

That is way over the line and really makes you think just how many mental cases are about. Thre more problems Newtek seem to have the more some of the community seem to have turned into children. I am not sure if that has to do with the new base Lightwave seem to be attracting but I hope it changes.

There was no reason for that. This guy has went as far as make of fun of his sig, his avatar, and his public work. That should not be acceptable here.

Most of them are. If you look at the threads on this very forum and others like XSIBase, you'l see that there are very few combative threads. Most of them are informative question/answer sessions, with almost no personal comments. A bit dry i guess, but lot more useful.

The thing about a 'community' is that you get all kinds. Most people are nice and helpfull, but some just have some character quirks. What they don't understand is that picking on people is an extremely stupid thing to do, when you no idea whom the guy you are picking on is. He could be your next boss or client, for all you know.

Hey, I was just trying to give Will a bit of a taste of his own medicine. Albiet, my comments were much more potent in it's satire. Hmm, I guess I was just amusing myself.

And I must say, those were some great insults guys! I think I like the mental case comparision the best. :D

Talking about intelligence, has anyone noticed that most people at CGtalk are very shallow in their choices for their favorite movies and music? I've found that a large population of artist here rate a movie not on it's merits but on how many special vfx it has. Personally, I wish everyone could take a good "film as lit" course. I'm sure artists could be greatly inspired by Akira Kurosawa, Seijun Suzuki, Lars von Trier, Terry Gilliam, David Lynch, John Ford, Martin Scorcese, Alfred Hitchcock, etc. Has anyone else seen Akira Kurosawa's Dreams-- it was released in 1990 but was very hard to find on VHS but last week they released it on dvd! If your familar with the master, Kurosawa, then I hope you check out this film. It's has the most beautiful cinematography I've ever seen. Also Kristof Kieslowski's Three color trilogy was also just released on dvd, I haven't had a chance to see those yet but I love his work in the Decalouge.

My point is that I think the artists here and elsewhere would create work with more psychological depth and humanity if they knew of the breadth of amazing work out there. 3d artist should look past the superficial exterior quality of their work and delve deeper into what the medium has to offer. 3d animation is never going to grow as a respected art form until people use it for more then for VFX and creating scantily-clad game characters.
