Last week I met a journalist of www.arabitalia.com and she asked for a portrait of a little cute pony that is able to stay "in candle" for long time. The pony is named Pioggia that here in Italy means rain, so I tried to descirbe her in the strange kind of light we got when the sun's rays pass through clouds. I also tried to respect the subject with her big belly (she is waiting for a colt) and the soft jaw.

Tech details :
I completely painted her under Corel Painter IX using first charcoals to obtain rough surfaces and a pleasant color mix, and then defining the whole scene with oils (detail oil with a high percentage of the bleed variable). The grass took a thing like 8 layers, with a strong usage of bluring filter on the foreground leaves

Waiting for C&C I wish you all a beautiful afternoon!

Serena, the work you did is absolutely amazing. The mood, the color scheme and the dynamic of your image are astounding: I don't know exactly why, but I find it so touching as BEN.
Your neverending passion can be seen, as usual, on this painting. And that's what I love the most. Saying "oh, what a talented artist you're" is not necessary at this point, because your skills blows naturally on each and every one of your works.
All my respect, cara. I wish I was half as good as you!
*Baccios!*

lovely composition and mood. The horse is very cute, but I think its legs are too short.

Thank you very much for your words guys!
@Inga : I tried to describe a pregnant pony, this is the reason of the big belly and short legs. Thank you very much for checking !

The overall feeling is really good indeed. On the crits side, though, I cannot help but to have a slight feeling about something not right with its head structure, if I'm allowed to say... Nevertheless, a very nice piece. Motionwise, it reads perfectly...
Wow, Serena, this looks great. I love the color palette you chose for this one. The grass is very well done. Not that texture brush grass, you know. And yeah, a finished painting should have a painted grass, not the one with texture brushes when doing a speedpaint. It also gives the painting a nice traditional painting feel.
Good work :)

Oh my, it is SO pretty, I really like the golden light on her and that expression on her face- very graceful and elegant!( I don't know if you were going for it, but sometimes these things come out subconsciously huh? :))
Just a few things I think would make it even better. Not that you have to agree with it of course ;)
I think the separation in the aky( grey clouds and the yellow sky) is a bit too tangential to the top of the head.Maybe if you brought the clouds down a bit and added a soft rim around the top of the head it would add the little bit of drama to the image? Also the shadows are quite dark, some filling with the environment colour maybe? You were probably going for the whole contrasty-ness of course.
Sorry, I wish I had commented on these when you were working on it. I know it can be frustrating to get comments like this after a piece is done, hehehe. But you know I think this piece is gorgeous anyway, right? :D
Wow.
That looks awesome especially atmosphere and details.
Congrats.
