ok, didn't know where to put this since it deals with Vista and its issues. Perhaps its also my new computer, but I need some advice and help.

Recently I noticed that every time I use a tool in photoshop that requires a brush like stroke, (example brush tool, pencil tool, stamp, etc) their is a instant where the cursor changes to a loading circle swish and to the normal arrow and then back to the photoshop style cursor.

I have a new intous tablet and here are the details of my computer

Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Gateway gm5420
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 1.8ghz
2 gb of ram expandable to 4

and I think my video card is a intel built in thing, the main reason the computer was inexpensive I think

I noticed the loading issue happens with both my regular mouse and the tablet. It has become a major nuisance, every stroke it pops up, painting digital has become really frustrating.

I noticed that when I pull up the task manager my cpu usage when using photoshop goes up to almost 75-85 percent on a relatively small file.

Does anyone have ideas? I don't know which company I should go to, I tried Wacom, but it doesn't seem to be a specific wacom issue?

I don't believe I had this problem when I first had this computer and tablet together.

Thanks

youll avoid a lot of problems by simply avoiding Vista and using win xp pro.

I have only had my new Vista system for a couple of days, so I have had very little time to mess with Photoshop... I actually just installed my Wacom today. I tried PS to see if I could recreate your problem and no dice - no big jump in CPU utilization and little to no delay (the rotating circle thingy).

I did notice on the Wacom site that they do have new-ish drivers (at least for my Graphire) that came out 06-07-07, might be worth a shot to uninstall and reinstall the newest ones.

By the way, do you have any anti-virus software running on your PC? Back in the day, there were conflicts with Norton taking up too many CPU cycles when some programs were also running (I believe PS was one of them).

Hey! me my wacom drivers stop working after 30min of work in after effects... its worst when a lot of application are running. its a wacom problem... lot of people got it with intuos 3...

except that everything related with quicktimes is crazy sluggish... shame on Apple, they really do by purpose for make people think pc are crap! I work with sequence now... way faster!

good luck with your problem, go on the wacom forum!!!

Hi,

Did you check if you have pen flicks on?
I noticed that it's impossible to use ps with flicks.
Every time you start drawing vista performs a clever(ish) shortcut action.
At least on my computer there seemed to be both windows and wacom drivers for the
tablet. After I got rid of the windows drivers I haven't had trouble with flicks, but still
I need to reboot every once in a while to keep my wacom working right with ps.

Good luck.

I know this is an old thread and perhaps someone already has presented a solution somewhere else.
I had the same problem today with the circle thing around the mouse pointer, resulting in a lag when tapping the pen.
I also found a solution:
Go to Control Panel->Pen and input-> Pen options tab
Change the settings for "Press and hold" and uncheck "Enable press and hold for right-clicking"

Done.
