View Full Version : Dual Quad Clovertown Fiasco?

Hello, I just bought a a dual quad intel machine 5300 for rendering. I set it up through backburner in 3ds and am using mental ray. For some reason I have a machine that is only a quad core that is rendering faster than this 8 core. Is there something I am doing wrong here...I would have thought this machine would smoke a quad machine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

here's the list to start asking:

a.) what OS?
b.) mainboard? processor #s? memory type/size?
c.) bought from a manu. or self-made?

start there and let me know.

Windows XP 32
dual e5310s
2g fbdimms
Supermicro board (intel 5000P)

The benchmarks for the system itself look about on par with the performance of other systems (using SiSoft and such for benchmarks). Runnin updated drivers all around.

did you do a fresh install of XP when installing this board? or did you simply gank a HD off an existing system and move it over?

you can try removing CPU1 (primary CPU is CPU0), rebooting, shutting down once loaded in windows, and putting the CPU back in. That's solved a few XP related issues i've had.
